Information You Provide
Search boxes on this site send the name, phone number, or address you enter to the third-party provider that powers sponsored results. We do not store your searches on our own servers. If you send us a message, we receive the contact details and text you choose to include and use them to respond.
Automatic Site Data
Our hosting systems may log standard technical data, including IP address, browser type, page requested, referral information, and timestamps. We use this information to operate the site, troubleshoot errors, measure traffic in aggregate, and maintain security. Basic analytics, cookies, or advertising measurement tools may also be used.
How We Use Data
We use the limited data described here to keep the site available, respond to messages, understand which pages are useful, and improve page quality. We do not sell a visitor list. We do not create individual user profiles from site activity.
Outside Website Links
Butte County People Search links to county offices, California agencies, court portals, library collections, archives, and sponsored search tools. Data you submit to those outside websites is governed by their own privacy policies and terms. The sponsored search provider is separate from this site and controls its own results and data practices.
Who May Process Data
Hosting, analytics, advertising, and support providers may process technical data for us. We may disclose information if required by valid legal process. Other than those limited cases, we do not share visitor data.
Data Security
The site is delivered over an encrypted connection. Server logs are retained only as long as needed for operations, analytics, security, and legal compliance. Because the site has no user accounts, it does not store account passwords or user profiles.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent personal information to us, use the contact page and we will delete it where feasible.
Your Privacy Rights
California consumer privacy law, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, Civil Code section 1798.100 et seq., may give California residents rights to know, delete, correct, or opt out of certain uses of personal information. Because we keep very little data, most requests involve checking our contact mailbox and server logs. Public records held by Butte County, California agencies, courts, or other custodians are outside our control, so removal or correction requests for those records must go to the custodian.
Policy Updates
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here. Continued use of the site after a posted change means you accept the updated policy.
